Forestry Commission outdoors 2 new Kantanka vehicles

The Forest Commission on Wednesday January 16 outdoored two Kantanka Omama 4X4 Pickups.
With the aim of supporting made in Ghana products the Forestry Commission, with the support of the Ministry of Land and Natural Resources purchased two brand new pick-ups from Kantanka automobile at the tune of GHC200,000.

According to the Chief Executive Officer of the Forestry Commission, Mr. Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, the cars manufactured by the Kantanka automobile company present value for money. He further revealed the Commission’s intent to purchase two more vehicles soon.

“Two days ago Forestry Commission with support of the ministry and the industry led by Nana Dwomoh Sarpong, we decided to have two of these Omama Kantanka vehicles, two pick-ups for use and thereafter, we also intend to have two more to add to what we already have so I am pleased to announce to all Ghanaians that indeed we all ought to patronize and support that industry.”

In an attempt to fulfil President Akufo-Addo’s pledge to patronize made in Ghana goods and support the locally manufactured Kantanka company, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie also known as Sir John, displayed the vehicles at the premises of the Commission on Wednesday.

He also expressed profound gratitude to the Deputy Minister of Land and Natural Resources, Mr Benito Owusu-Bio for the ministry’s assistance.

“It begins with the positive attitude of government to ensure that we all buy into the local industry. I am grateful to my management and my minister for the support they have given.”

The Forest Commission CEO was excited about the new vehicles which have been added to the other fleets of the commission and urged other companies and ministries to emulate them and support the Ghanaian-based car manufacturing company.

“We also have placed another two to be purchased to support the fleet of vehicles that we have here and that will make it four so we have done extremely well and urge other companies to emulate that shining example that Forestry Commission have shown.”

Also present at the outdooring of the new vehicles at the Forestry Commission, Deputy Minister, Land and Natural Resources, Mr Benito Owusu-Bio indicated that he will oblige other ministries to emulate the example set by the Forestry Commission and patronize local content.

“Soon we are going to tell all our agencies that are under the Minerals Commission, Forestry Commission and Lands Commission, these three agencies are going to heed the examples being emulated by the forestry commission. And this is to attest to the fact that His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo’s government means what they says by buying made in Ghana goods.”

Sir John however, took the opportunity to clarify that all outstanding arears of the Youth and Afforestation program of the Forestry Commission have been paid and workers are back to work. He further maintained that he is working tirelessly to ensure all other regions receive payment soon.

“I’m happy to pay tribute to the Afforestation youth, they’ve done extremely well and I’m proud of them. I think that the nation and posterity shall always and forever be grateful to them. This January, I have had an assurance that we are going to get a one month allowance which is already in the bag but I’m looking for another one month. Again I hope and pray that by end of January we will have that.”
