God will surely save Ghana – Anyidoho on Asiedu Nketiah’s ‘sharing of the meat’ comment

Asiedu Nketiah, alias General Mosquito, is on record as tasking the party faithful to be focused on winning power in the 2024 elections.

According to him, talk about who gets what position long before the 2024 elections are won will only distract from the ultimate goal and thwart the mission of removing the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from office.

He referred to appointments as meat that will be shared only after elections have been won.

That allusion appears to have excited Anyidoho, an avowed critic of the chairman. He took swipes at Mosquito in several posts on X.

One such post read: “Oyiwa! He is now crying because they have shared the post and left him and his people out? Naniama ”Wu be ti borborliborbor”. So the whole dead goat terminal 4yrs agenda is about sharing post and NOT caring about Ghana huh? God will surely save Ghana.”

“This was said at the outdooring of our Running Mate? Whaaat!!! So, after we were once told that the “meat” had been squandered, & the “bones” rudely thrown at us, they are boldly talking about “sharing meat”? Obviously, they believe we have “short memories”. God save Ghana,” another post read.

What Asiedu Nketiah said:

The NDC chairman during an opening address at the Kofi Ohene Konadu Auditorium at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), stressed that there remained a lot of work to be done to dislodge the NPP.

“Because we’re convinced that we are there, a lot of people have begun taking positions and fighting over who will be what in the next government. Some people are not only fighting about the positions they will occupy, they are telling all others that they will be the kingmakers and they will be making appointments.

“If we’re not careful, this will dampen the enthusiasm and the spirit of our followers. I want to assure everybody that we’re not there yet.

“Don’t be fighting about positions, and don’t be talking about who will make appointments. Let’s all go for the hunting first and when we kill the game we can now argue about sharing of the meat,” he stressed.

The event was to formally outdoor the NDC’s running mate for the 2024 presidential elections, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang.

The event was attended by the NDC flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, his wife Lordina and most National and Regional executives. Scores of NDC lawmakers and hundreds from across the rank and file were present.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang, a former minister for education and former Vice Chancellor for the University of Cape Coast was nominated by former President John Dramani Mahama as his running mate for the 2020 election. Their bid failed.

Four years down the line, Mr Mahama has once again settled on the educationist maintaining the possibility of her becoming Ghana’s first female vice president.
