Akufo-Addo is not corrupt, cannot be corrupt – NDC’s Allotey Jacobs

Former Central Regional Chairman of the NDC, Bernard Allotey Jacobs has said that tags of corruption been associated with President Akufo-Addo will not stick because the president is incorruptible, ABC News can report.

According to Allotey Jacobs, there is no way President Akufo-Addo can be described as corrupt due to his rather principled nature and undying patriotism. He says the president’s integrity cannot be questioned when it comes to issues of corruption.

“I want to make this one very clear; You cannot tag corruption against Nana Addo. You cannot and it is never true. For those of us who have known him for so many years in his political life, we know you can never hang corruption tag on his neck,” the former Central Regional Chairman of the NDC emphasized.

He explained that what has brought about this corruption tags to dent the hard-earned reputation of the president can be attributed to the activities of some people he referred us “political opportunists“. He explained that the political opportunists are wealthy businessmen and women who finance political office seekers in order to get favors in return in the form of appointments, contracts among others. These people when contracted or appointed devise foul means on the blind side of their appointors to recoup their investment. However, the political head is unfortunately blamed for the actions and inactions of their appointees even with issues of corruption of which they know nothing about.

Allotey Jacobs explained, “many at times, there are political opportunists. We also have businessmen who are also opportunists. They will be in NDC and at the same time in NPP. When they realize a certain political party is likely to come to power, they begin to pump large sums of money into these political parties. They do this in order to yield returns.”

Allotey Jacobs, who prides himself as an educated fisherman added that like Akufo-Addo, John Mahama is not corrupt. He is of the belief that the integrity of the former president in terms of corruption cannot be tainted despite many attempts to do so.

“In the same way, you cannot tag corruption or hang corruption on Former President Mahama’s neck”, Allotey Jacobs said.
