Ex-Corporal Mathew Adabuga, a former corporal in the Ghana Armed Forces and a bodyguard of former President Jerry John Rawlings has said Rawlings cannot absolve himself of culpability in the murder of the murder of three judges and a military officer in 1982.
According to him, Jerry Rawlings gave the order for numerous murders for both soldiers and civilians who were buried in mass graves at Achimota Forest and Airport runaway. He also revealed that Rawlings created other mass graves at another place near the airport called Gadafi camp where many soldiers attached to the Military Intelligence were killed in mass by the express orders of ‘Chairman Rawlings’
Mathew Adabuga who is considered one of the main architects of the December 1981 coup also repeated his allegation that among others Rawlings popped champagne to celebrate the murder of the 3 judges and a soldier when Amartey Kwei came to inform him. He said Rawlings walked to the fridge and took out a champagne to pop.
Adabuga said he appeared before the National Reconciliation Commission to face Rawlings “man-to-man” but Rawlings refused to meet him, asking for separate testimonies.
Mr Mathew Adabuga revealed that Mrs Konadu Rawlings is not clean too, as she expressly ordered the murder of Anto Mess on 31st Night because he knows too much after guarding her for some time.
He was speaking on Andy D TV following the launch of his book, “Rawlings Murder and Lies”.
He expressed regret about what has happened and said the National Reconciliation Commission did not serve justice as he himself, like Rawlings, doesn’t deserve to be alive.
