More motorists sent back to school for driving too fast
The number of speeding drivers sent on a special course to learn to behave in traffic has risen by almost 50% this year, according to figures from driving licence bureau CBR.
Since last April police have been able to send first offenders who drive 50 to 60 kph too fast, on a special course to stop them re-offending.
In addition, a further 3,662 people who committed multiple traffic offences were sent on a longer course.
“They range from plasterers to company bosses,” CBR trainer Marian de Kort told the Telegraaf. “They drive a lot and they have good control of their car but that means they often overestimate their skills and do not realise what an impact their behaviour can have.”
