The latest survey conducted by Professor Smart Sarpong, an associate professor of statistics at Kumasi Technical University, has shown that the ruling NPP would be the Majority Caucus of the 9th Parliament of Ghana.

According to the survey, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would win at least 148 parliamentary seats in the upcoming December 7, 2024, general election, with 128 of these seats considered “safe.”

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), on the other hand, is projected to win 92 safe seats, while 56 constituencies remain highly competitive.

The survey also found that there would be no independent Member of Parliament in the next Parliament.

“NPP’s lead in parliamentary safe seats with 128 safe seats, followed by the NDC’s 92 safe seats. The remaining 56 constituencies are up for grabs, with the NPP and NDC likely to win an equal share.

“It is clear from this report that by the close of elections in 2024, the NPP shall secure NOT LESS THAN 148 SEATS in Parliament. There were 6 competitive independent candidates in Sunyani East, Asante Akyem Central, Asante Akyem North, La-Dade Kotopong, Suhum, and Agona West. None of the 6 competitive independent candidates secured enough votes to earn them the pass mark,” the excerpts of the study indicated.

It added, “All 276 constituency seats are winnable, but more energy is required in the 56 tight constituencies for parties who wish to win. The list of the 56 and their likely winning party will be shared only upon request via my email.”

The survey was conducted across 4,272 communities in all 276 constituencies in the country and involved 99,355 respondents.
