The chiefs and people of Kpando in the Volta Region have expressed confidence in the leadership of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as he seeks to serve the country as President.
The Vice President and NPP Flagbearer commenced his tour of the Volta Region on Sunday, and as part of his tour, visited the Kpando Constituency, where he engaged with chiefs, religious leaders, and the community.
Welcoming Dr. Bawumia, the Paramount Chief of Kpando, Togbe Dagadu IX, on behalf of his chiefs and the people, expressed belief in Dr. Bawumia’s leadership, as he also praised the NPP government for delivering development projects in the country and the Kpando community.
“Let me, on behalf of the chiefs and people of the area, express gratitude to this NPP government for various development projects we see. There are a number of them that have happened on the national front. Notable among them is the free SHS policy. But because of the people I represent, I would like to narrow down to what we have seen around,” said Togbe Dagadu IX.
“In fact, I cannot mention them all; I will just mention a few of them. Through the efforts of this government, we have seen a new municipal assembly complex. My MCE and workers at the assembly have jubilated so much,” he said.
“We also have a new audit service building, business advisory centre, and 12 bungalows being built for municipal assembly staff. Also, two more bungalows are being built for the judicial service, for judges specifically.”
The Paramount Chief was also full of praise for the government for its decision to supply road development equipment for district assemblies, which he said Kpando has its share.
“And just recently, my MCE came to me with joy, saying the DRIP machines are in. We have been talking so much about town roads. All is set for the programme, and very soon we will see some relief as far as our town roads are concerned.”
“For all these and many others, we are very grateful,” said the Paramount Chief.
Togbe Dagadu IX requested many more developments for the area, hopefully, under the leadership of Dr. Bawumia, which he stressed that the chiefs and people of Kpando have confidence in.
“We, the chiefs and people of Kpando, have high hopes in your leadership,” Togbe Dagadu IX said, adding that Dr. Bawumia should grant the community its fair share of development as President of Ghana “should Ghanaians and the Almighty God smile at you and deliver the steering wheel of Ghana into your hands.”
Specifically, he requested Dr. Bawumia to help the community complete the rehabilitation of the Kpando Health Centre, which plays a key role in providing healthcare to the surrounding communities.
He also requested the rehabilitation of certain key roads within the area, an inland port to promote the community’s tourism potential, the upgrading of Kpando Technical Institute to a tertiary institution, as well as the rehabilitation of Bishop Herman Senior High School.
The chiefs and people presented a beautiful smock to Dr. Bawumia and assured him of their readiness to support and work with him.
“The President was here, and we had a lot to talk about. You coming here, I will say, Kpando is your home. There are a number of people here in Kpando who support you, and your presence here has painted the town blue, white, and red. I believe there are good tidings. We are ready to work with you anytime, any day.”
Vice President Bawumia expressed gratitude to the chiefs and the community for their warm reception and assured them of fulfilling their requests as President.
He took time to explain a number of his policies, which his government intends to implement.
