The National Identification Authority (NIA) has announced that effective May 1, 2024, it will begin charging new rates for some services.

A public notice posted on their Facebook page that the adjustments were in line with the Fees and Charges (Miscellaneous Provisions) Regulations, 2023 (L.I. 2481) passed by Parliament in February 2024.

The new rates span three major Ghana Card service areas – First Time Registration, Replacement of Cards and Personal Information Update Service.

NOTE: All dollar-denominated charges below are to be converted to Ghana cedis and paid

CARD REPLACEMENT SERVICE

Card Replacement – NIA District Office – GH¢125

Card Replacement – NIA Premium Center – GH¢420

What is the ‘Ghanacard’?

It is a secure and multi-purpose card that will establish the biometric identity of bona fide holder for verification and authentication of electronic and physical transactions to be conducted in the public and private services space.

Who is qualified to be registered?

There are three (3) categories of people to be registered, namely:

1. All Ghanaian citizens by Birth (descent), Registration or Naturalisation aged zero (0) years and above and currently resident in Ghana.

2. All Ghanaian citizens living abroad

3. Foreign national legally/permanently resident in Ghana.
